Introduction (with PICTURES!!)

We were going to launch right into posting the articles that we've started writing, but I (Jen) realized that we haven't really explained the formula we're using, or what we've deemed important etc. We came up witha few different formulas before we started writing, and now that we've written about a few different attractions, I think we've got the shape of things pretty well solidified.

Here are the major W's behind our project:
  • Who:
That's us, in Disney, on Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin. We're gigantic DIsney nerds, and we're guessing you are, too*.
Our audience is what sets our perspective apart! This all started about three years ago when Jeremy and I planned our first Disney trip together. We love the parks, but we realized there wasn't really anything written specifically for Disney lovers our age. At that time, we were both just graduating from undergraduate school and had never really been to Disney without either being a kid, or traveling with a much younger sibling/friend. I always inherently research things I love, and I started noticing that every guide seemed aimed at either people with kids, or people who are kids. Publishers tend to assume that if you're traveling to Disney without children, then you're retired/retiring. There was nothing for the in-between ages--the awkward time after being a kid and before having kids of your own. So here we are, writing what we've been looking for all this time.
  • What: This is a blog that we're hoping to turn into a book eventually. We're using it to collect our thoughts, motivate ourselves to write regularly, and finally create a manuscript. The book itself won't have detailed maps (crude drawings at best), or exhaustive history lessons. Jer and I want to point out the tricks and tips we've acquired over years of going to Disney, with each other and separately. I explained earlier that we've developed a formula for writing about each attraction, but I may save that for another post. We won't just cover attractions, however. We'll also dive into planning the trip, which we see as including budget, who to go with, when to go, and how to get there. Additionally, there is so much to do in Disney World that we can't possibly do it all in one trip...or even ten. If there's something you love and we missed it, there's a good chance it's just because we didn't even know it existed (Disney is great with hidden gems like that...) Please let us know about your experience, and we'll credit you in a follow-up post!!
  • When: We are hoping to return to Disney in February of 2015. Before then, we'd like to identify where the major holes are in our knowledge, and fill them in as much as possible on that trip. For the moment, Jer and I don't even live in the same state. That makes writing together semi-difficult, but we use the magic of the internets to do our best. As far as a publication/completion date goes...forget about it. We'll be done when we're done. Unless someone wants to give me money like Scrooge McDuck, in which case things will get significantly faster.

  • Where: I guess... Disney. And also the internet? We've only ever been to Disney WORLD...in Orlando. And I don't see us getting a money-filled swimming pool any time soon... so realistically we can only write what we know. But we love hearing stories about other parks.
  • Why: Because we're obsessed! We want to help young Disney lovers enjoy their time in the parks and the resorts to the absolute fullest, and it's taken us years to think up/research/learn all the stuff we know now. We're hoping to shorten that process for you, at least a little.

I think that's it for now. We're hoping to post about every two-three weeks, so keep an eye out for that breakdown of how we assess attractions and stuff. Or something.
