Special Tips: Dole Whips

Dole Whips are one of those things that "Disney Insiders" insist upon every time they are in the parks. Somehow, Jer and I had missed them every trip until the most recent one.
As it turns out, I HAD actually been eating Dole Whips for the last few years--but only in secret. It was a secret, it turns out, to everyone, including myself.

Dole Whips (tm) can be found at the Aloha Isle stand in Adventureland. It's right near the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse--right across the walkway in fact. Here's why I've never stopped there before:
The lines are always hella long, and they serve Dole Whips almost exclusively. That checks off two boxes in my "reasons never to go there" list regarding Disney attractions.  It is also well camouflaged for a food service location, those who aren't looking for it will walk right on by despite it being on the main path.

So instead, I'd creep past the crowds at Aloha to Sunshine Tree Terrace, where there is always more shade, more space, more service counters and more Tiki Bird action. Sunshine Tree Terrace has a variety of drinks, a smattering of snacks, and best of all "off-brand" dole whips. While the snacks at Sunshine Tree aren't explicitly called Dole Whips (tm), the fruit drink smoothies or ice cream snacks (depending on how you get them served) are made of the same delicious fruityness that you get in a Dole Whip (tm). What's the difference you may ask? Literally nothing.

Shorter lines: Sunshine Tree. More space to sit (here meaning any seating at all): Sunshine Tree. Better variety of snacks: Sunshine Tree. See the theme?
The Citrus swirl is, in my opinion, even better than a Dole Whip because it tastes like a creamsicle made with real orange (or pineapple or mango) sorbet.

If you dead set on going to Aloha Isle, then here's what you have to know:
1. There are two windows: one on the main path and one around the side of the building. Most people don't know about the side one and, as a result, there is typically no line.
2. Do NOT go right after dinner. Aloha Isle stays open late most nights, so if you go a little later you'll cut down on the wait time.
3. You cannot get a citrus swirl at Aloha Isle. I still recommend stopping by the Terrace for a little bit of magic.
